I never thought I would be a runner but, after having kids and focusing solely on them, I realized that I was neglecting myself and not setting the best example for them. They deserved better, and so did I. I decided to make a dramatic change. I am a busy, working mom of two and did not think I had time for exercise or eating beyond whatever was quick and convenient. But I realized that no one has time – you have to make the time. So I did.

That was then and this is now. “Then” was 4 years ago. “Now” I am now 65 pounds lighter and have run 7 half-marathons!  It is very empowering to do something that once seemed impossible.

I am proud of the healthy lifestyle I am modeling for my daughters, and want them to grow up believing that strong is always better than skinny. I run to show them that there will always be someone faster and someone slower, but the real race is against yourself and the goal is to be the best you can be.

I truly believe that every woman can find her inner-athlete – and look cute while doing it! I am proud to “Sweat Pink”. I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Favourite Run Ever: Hourglass Lake at Disney’s Art of Animation!

Best Race: Tinker Bell Half-Marathon – I can fly, I can fly, I can fly!

Worst Race: Toronto Women’s Half-Marathon (everything that could go wrong DID!)

Favourite Running Moment: Going the distance – all 21.1K – on my own, no spectators, no applause, no medals or ceremony…just me and the open road. My own personal half-marathon victory!

Must Have Running Accessory: My tag-team duo, iPod and Garmin

Favourite Indulgence: Peanut butter

Favourite Disney Princess: Belle for her love of reading and Tiana for her work ethic (but I ran under Sleeping Beauty’s bib at the 2013 Half-Marathon because I love pink!)

Favourite Disney Fairy: Tinker Bell, of course – the original! Love her sassy, fiesty attitude.

Next Goal Race: Disney’s Wine & Dine Half-Marathon in Disney World – back to PRing in fun!

  1. You are the best mom ever and you are the most adventurous person I have ever met. I love the shirt by the way!!!! I can’t believe you are going to run 21.1 in Disney. I love that you are going to use sparkle skirts for the Princess Meet up. All of that training will pay off when you get your medal and finish the Princess half marathon. I also can’t wait to get my medal with my sister. You have also taught me and Presley how to be healthy and be a good runner. It will be me and Presley’s first medal!!! Disney will be a great place to get our first medal for running but remember me and Presley had to train hard too. I can’t wait!!!!

    together. I once again find myself spending way
